News Update – At AutoSens Conference 2018 in Detroit ((MI), May 14th – 17th,

ULIS will give a talk on the benefits of image sensors in the extended spectral

range in a presentation entitled: ‘All-weather vision for automotive safety: which

spectral band?’.

The presentation draws upon the results of a French-funded study called AWARE

(All-Weather All Roads Enhanced Vision). This comparative study evaluated the

relevance of four different spectral bands: Visible RGB, Visible RGB Near-Infrared

(NIR) extended, Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) and Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) for

use in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

Emmanuel Bercier, strategic marketing manager at ULIS, will share the outcome

of two test campaigns that used four cameras to simultaneously record road user

activity (pedestrians, vehicles, traffic sign and lane detection) in real-life outdoor

conditions and in an artificial fog tunnel.

Conference Session: Automotive Sensors and Perception Conference

Track: Challenges and Opportunities for Sensors in the Self-Driving Eco-System

Date/Time: Thursday, May 17th at 9:10am (local)

Location: The Michigan Science Center, 5020 John R Street, Detroit, MI 48202

The AWARE project, led by ULIS, began in 2013 to create an eco-system to

support the development and commercialization of lower-cost, all-weather

cameras that allow the safe automated driving of automobiles, combat vehicles,

robots and drones. These sensors will ensure safe driving at night and in bad

weather, as well as enhance the autonomy of tomorrow’s consumer and military

vehicles.
