Medicen Paris Region organizes first ever France–India Healthcare Summit on March 1-2, 2017

Paris, France, March 1, 2017 – Medicen Paris Region, Europe’s leading healthcare cluster, today announcesthat its first ever two-day France-India Healthcare Summit is taking place today and tomorrow at the Biocitech biopark in Romainville, France. The summit is aimed at exploring opportunities, sharing best practice and jointly evaluating challenges that lay ahead for both countries.

With differing demographics, funding and financing systems, the healthcare sectors of India and France face different sets of challenges in the years to come. However, there are three key areas that can be explored jointly, on which the summit will focus, including:

• Enabling better access to diagnostics and treatments in remote areas
• Reducing the cost of medical care by streamlining organisations, standardisation and systematic reengineering
• Efficient innovation in products, protocols and processes to tackle challenges of the future

The summit will bring together six high-level keynote speakers from India and France, including Pr. K. Vijayraghavan, secretary of the department of biotechnology, government of India and chair of the funding agency for SMEs, BIRAC – the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council. It will feature four roundtable discussions on key areas such as medical devices, rare diseases, e-health and personalized medicine as well as innovative management opportunities.

Over the two days, attendees can also hear experts, healthcare practitioners, researchers, members of both governments and private companies share their experience in doing business in the French and Indian healthcare sectors, and participate in dedicated networking sessions. Start-ups will have the opportunity to display in the Start-up corner, and to pitch to investors and potential partners. Twenty investment funds & VCs will also attend the event.

Total investment is close to €1.2 billion and €533 million of public aid.
